Thinking Outside The Box...
In a sense The Boxman Diaries is a definitive example of the kind of dynamic we try to create: something which is neither one thing or another, but many things simultaneously, from which more things spring out.
Charlie spent three weeks dressed from head to foot in a box-costume - The Boxman. He ate, drank, slept and lived in the costume, even 'toileting' through flaps in the cardboard. This period was conducted in total silence, in order that The Boxman should take on his own personality through physical appearance alone - a kind of superhero of some kind.
A weekly life-drawing class was held where people could come to draw The Boxman in a variety of poses, for the production of a Graphic Novel about the character. Boxman spent a great deal of time interacting with the general public, and a documentary book and film were produced, as well as a temporary website. Boxman was somewhat of an outcast, and was daily taunted by teenagers, and refused service at shops and entry to buildings. He did however, receive a certain degree of fame amongst the local community, which has extended into a kind of mysterious legend.
