More About US

We have been working as an interdisciplinary and multimedia artist since 2006. Our work is hugely inspired by the natural world, animals and plants, magic and stories, family and history, journey and place.

We're best known for my intricate and atmospheric touring shadow puppetry shows which I make, write, produce and perform, under the name The Clockwork Moth.

Our making skills are also turned to large-scale installations, giant willow puppets, prop-making, mask, costume and set-building. We also run a wide range of workshops.

Charlie is a Core Artist for Creation Myth Puppets who carry out epic and spectacular puppet-making residencies with children in schools. Charlie also works as an illustrator and recently produced a book about Creation Myth Puppets (puppet-making and world stories,  with author Tony Gee. It can be purchased here. Charlie has a passion for creative projects in public spaces and have created a number of public wildlife gardens and wildlife themed murals. He is committed to social and environmental activism through creative community resiliance projects, and write and talk on a number of subjects.

Victoria is a talented textile artists, and as well as making clothes and toys from fabric, and crochet.knitted wool, she designs many of the figurative silhouettes and costumes for our shadow puppets.  Vicky is a very talented Dungeon Master and as well as running  Dungeons and Dragons campaigns among friends, she runs many different campaigns for young people, where her amazing storytelling, improv and roleplay skills are out to good use! Vicky is often the live narrator in our shadow puppetry shows and will be performing  our reworked version of Hansel & Gretel during Summer/autumn 2025.

We live on Dartmoor with our kids and dogs and tend an allotment for people and wildlife, which is the most beautiful place on Earth.
