This is a beautiful track, written by an old friend - Tony - that I recently reconnected with after a good 25 years - he's that special category of person that you still care about even when you haven't seen them for decades. He sent me this track and it set me remembering how much his musical talents inspired me back in Glasgow in the late 90s. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time among several musicians of exceptional talent in those day; my musical education was varied and mind-blowing. Music still means so much to me, and why spending a summer night listening to friends playing guitars on the porch, singing beautiful harmonies together, makes me feel more blissful and truly happy than maybe anything else. And so music will play a big part in this new show.

I've included Flake Brown's track here, because I listened to it today with a friend who I'll be working with on the music for this theatre project, the brilliant Ryan Hamilton.

It has something of feel of the kind of musical style I'd like to work with, it reminds me of being in The Highlands, and feelings of timelessness, and there is something heartbreaking at the centre of it, about seeing life in its layered generational complexity. Makes me think of how short and fragile and transient, yet painfully meaningful our lifetimes are.
